St. Michael's Majors
vs. Brampton Battalion
Family Day, Monday February 16th was Hockey day for our Credit Valley Wolf Cubs. The day started with a FREE hockey school put on by Credit Valley in the morning for our players aged 4 to 12 years old.
Later, in the early afternoon, over 100 Wolf Cub players, families and friends cheered on our Mississauga St. Michael's Majors as they played host to their OHL cross-town rivals the Brampton Battalion. The fun filled afternoon put on by the Majors overshadowed their 1 to 3 loss to the Battalion. The younger crowd was greeted prior to the game by their cartoon heroes, Sponge Bob Square Pants with Patrick, and Dora the Explorer with Diego. Bubba the clown made balloon dinosaurs. Local scouts and firemen welcomed the fans as they entered the Hershey Centre.
Top ticket sellers Andrew Hrinco and Cole Cronin skated with the Majors in the pre-game skate then stood on the blue line for the pre-game National anthem. Later, both Andrew and Cole were the goalie's for the Timbit game which ended with shut outs for both sides. The 1st star of the Timbit game was our rookie Wolf Cub Luca Gioia who was awarded an official Majors game puck.
New for 2008, to enhance our growing Wolf Cub program, is our first Select 6 Wolf Cub team. Fourteen of our select Wolf Cub players have been playing exhibition and tournament games against other MHL associations and local teams. This team has been expertly suited up with "A" level jerseys sporting the new Wolf Cub logo. With funds from Select 6 Wolf Cub sponsor Palit Multimedia, the team has been able to purchase a customized set of goalie pads from local hockey equipment supplier Flite Hockey.
