PRESIDENT'S PAGE
I would like to take this
opportunity to introduce myself, my name is Robert Day and
I am the President for the Credit Valley Wolves Minor Hockey
Association. It gives me great pleasure on behalf of our
Executive to extend a warm and hearty welcome to all players,
officials, parents and friends that will be participating
in the upcoming hockey season. We trust that the competition
will be exciting, challenging and enjoyable with the finest
level of sportsmanship. To each individual player we wish
success, have fun, play hard, play fair and play to the
best of your ability.
This website is one of the
many means by which we communicate with our parents, players
and volunteers. Information is updated regularly, so please
visit us frequently. Our website continues to evolve as
we try to make it an effective communication tool to provide
information to you and our players more quickly and also
to provide visitors with a broader sense of what Credit
Valley hockey is all about. It is our hope that after learning
what we are about, visitors will want to become a member
of our organization. As with everything we do here at Credit
Valley, as an organization we are open to feedback on how
we can do things better. Please contact me presidentcvw@rogers.com
or contact any of our executive listed on our website with
your comments or suggested improvements.
Our goal at the Credit Valley
Minor Hockey Association, is to deliver a successful year
of grass-roots minor hockey focused on fitness,
fun and friendship and not distracted by the politics,
economics and other issues that take away from the enjoyment
that we know that the game can and should provide. We also
recognize the high cost of hockey and we will strive to
return great value to our players and families. Our goal
is to deliver an experience where parents will leave the
rink convinced that their $4 admission was their best purchase
of the week!
The Credit Valley organization
is involved in minor hockey to pursue the development of
youth, not solely as hockey players, but as people, sharing
core values of commitment, discipline, professionalism,
work ethic, teamwork, sharing, growing, mutual respect,
integrity, loyalty and fun. We hope to bring back this philosophy
and instil in those who wish to be part of our organization
the desire to give something back as well. We hope to directly
influence the sport in a positive way:
We believe in teaching
kids mutual respect applied equally to officials, coaches,
parents, team mates, their opponents, and for themselves.
Winning and sportsmanship are not mutually exclusive.
The support of dedicated
volunteers will always be the key to our success. As a not-for-profit
organization we rely on sponsors, sponsorships, fundraising
and the generosity of individuals to financially support
our programs. The efforts of these individuals giving countless
hours of energy and time collectively helps build a strong
organization that in turn raises stronger citizens. It takes
many people contributing their personal time to make Credit
Valley an organization that we can all be proud of. We encourage
our parents to become involved in the association as attentive
parents and as volunteers. The backbone of our association
is our volunteers who give generously of their time in many
capacities. If you are interested in getting involved this
season please contact anyone on our Executive to discuss
the many ways you can be of assistance to our association.
The organization welcomes sponsorship contributions. For
additional information please send us an e-mail at: info@creditvalleywolves.com.
Our current executive personnel
have exceptional credentials and are very well equipped
to guide, support and prepare your young athletes. The Credit
Valley Wolves hockey organization offers two programs –
House League and Rep 'A' . In all our programs we seek a
healthy balance in hockey and life, because hockey is only
part of one’s life, it’s not the rest of one’s
life. It is a privilege for players’ and coaches’
to represent the Wolves. We expect them to be ambassadors
for the game.
We try to teach players to:
| - Play for the love of the game; |
|
- Be generous in winning and graceful in losing; |
| - Conduct yourself with honour and dignity; |
|
- Be respectful of the rules; and |
| - Be fair and display sportsmanship; |
|
- Learn every time you step on the ice. |
One of my goals is to work
cooperatively with the MHL and the other seven Associations
to create an environment that will provide the best possible
hockey experience for all Mississauga residents. Again,
if you have any ideas, concerns or suggestions for improvement,
please feel free to contact me presidentcvw@rogers.com
or leave me a message on our hockey line (905)-785-0273.
In closing, I would like
to leave you with our motto:
Hockey…for
fitness, fun and friendship.
We will strive to run programs
that deliver on these goals.
